Shanghai Serviced Apartments

The Shanghai Arch, from The Sun Hung Kai Properties group, is a 1.7 million square foot development of residential and serviced apartments on the banks of the Huangpu River in the Pudong, overlooking the Bund on the opposite shore.

Housed within one tower dedicated for serviced apartments, there are a total of 174 units within 23 floors, ranging in size from a typical single bed unit of 460 square feet to 2 bed units of 1,250 square feet. On a typical floor there are 8 apartments and a total of 12 apartment types arrayed within the 23 floors. All units have private balconies while those on the first floor have individual gardens. Two of the larger units on the top floor have their own roof terraces.

The entire development is only available to Shanghai residents though the styling speaks of a more cosmopolitan lifestyle with a contemporary, simple and elegant Western design approach in the decor, the selection of fixtures and furniture (all China made) as well as the specification of bathroom (Japan and Germany) and kitchen cabinets (Italy) and appliances (Germany). A significant design challenge was to standardize, inasmuch as possible, the fixed and loose furniture elements across the whole project with variety within the 12 apartment types provided by differing combinations of these elements.
