At the two-storey Lee Kum Kee Health Products Group headquarters near the top of Infinitus Plaza, visitors are swiftly transported from cyber-look lift lobbies into spaces that are, by contrast, both super-colourful and, seemingly, super-chaotic.

But this is organised chaos.

Instead of a yellow-brick road, a banded red jogging path meanders through textured concrete and grass-look carpet tiles, connecting workstations and break-out areas, meeting spaces and quiet rooms, with vertical circulation to the conference areas at the upper floor via a base building fire stair painted in a rainbow of colours.

Against an open ceiling, the work, meeting, refreshment, play and exercise areas are defined with different floor finishes and light fixtures – strip lights here, pendants there, chandeliers, track-lights, cove and cloud – shaped lighting.

And, where there are walls or columns, these too help orient the staff with coloured dots, banding, balloons, stars and inspirational messages – adding to the carnival-like atmosphere.

In a final break with tradition, a demountable wall can be peeled back at the Chairman’s office to merge his private space – neatly equipped with a Steelcase Media.Scape System – with the adjacent open-plan staff working areas.
