Shanghai Arch
Shanghai Arch is a residential development wholly-owned by Sun Hung Kai Properties. It sits on the banks of the Huangpu River directly across the water from The Bund with its magnificent late 19th to early 20th century Beaux Arts architecture of banks, trading houses, consulates and clubs. The development provides 1.7 million square feet of residential space within 13 towers and 23 riverside townhouses most of which enjoy broad, open river views.
The Arch was the first Shanghai residential property to win Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Core and Shell Development silver pre-certification by the US Green Building Council. Such certification establishes environmental targets and minimum performance for all building elements including materials, fixtures and equipment used in the interiors.
The main entrance halls and associated areas at ground floor enjoy a dual aspect with access to and from the gardens and ponds on one side and, opposite, entry from the vehicular drop-off point. Daylight, as a result, floods into the halls from two sides. They are double height spaces, generously proportioned, giving an overall light, airy and comfortable feel. The design approach has been to celebrate the soft landscape that fills the immediate surroundings with the use of natural colours and finishes in the interiors along with indoor planting.
