KC Maritime
Family-owned shipping company, KC Maritime, recently moved from a lower level to the 22nd floor of Silver Fortune Plaza, near the very top of the building.
The new space was planned using a ship’s curve to define the main wall that separates the Chairman’s Office / Ship Model Display, Cafe and access to the two meeting rooms facing Wyndham Street – from the open-plan office. A small enclosure adjacent to the reception area serves as a private phone / interview room and these spaces are fitted with double glazing for transparency and sound control.
With both daylight and views, the Cafe takes pride of place here – providing ample space for coffee and tea breaks, lunches and the many social gatherings that are celebrated in conjunction with the shipping industry.
While the firm’s previous workspace was totally rectangular in arrangement, the new premises takes advantage of 120° desks in pods, with just one other private office, for the COO, in the working area.
Coupled with removal of the very low base-building ceiling, the overall effect is open, welcoming and collaborative.
