Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer
The oldest international law firm in the world, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer decided, in early 2017, to relocate their Hong Kong office from the Central district to Quarry Bay. The project comprised 48,000 square feet at 55 / 56F One Island East and was carried out on a fast-track basis. Among other requirements, Freshfields outlined the following initial goals:
- a very high level of sound isolation between rooms
• several collaboration spaces that allow people to meet informally
• an in-house café where staff can gather for dining and office events
• provision of a wellness facility for re-charging and regeneration
At the same time, a Client Meeting Suite was also constructed at 36F Two Exchange Square in Central.
Here, there are four fully equipped multi-function rooms that can be combined into one – for seminars and presentations – as well as two independent meeting rooms that are used for smaller gatherings and dining. A ten-person hot desk area provides visiting staff with temporary touchdown space, there are two war rooms and a discreet client café adjacent to reception.
The design and detailing of the two Freshfields premises is deliberately similar to ensure a unified look and feel, with common lighting, fittings, fixtures and finishes.
Construction of the One Island East space commenced one month earlier than the Client Meeting Suite and both projects were completed on the same day in November.
