Hong Kong Electric

In conjunction with the appointment of KPF for the new Hong Kong Electric Headquarters on Kennedy Road a competition was held for the interior design of the Ground Floor Lobby, the top floor VIP areas and boardroom, and for the 8F Executive Management offices.

There followed intensive meetings to determine how best to both utilise and to display the HKE core product and service – electricity - in an interesting manner.

Ultimately, this took the form of top lighting, back lighting, up lighting, side lighting, indirect lighting and projected lighting.

Surface designs were implemented in cast glass, granite and stainless steel at the ground floor public areas, and in a selection of carpet, fabric and timber finishes in the private spaces at the upper levels.

A waterfall at the main entrance ripples over a cast-glass surface behind the reception counter, creating an acoustic break from the busy Hong Kong traffic on the street outside.
