SICEC - Singapore

Our involvement at the Suntec International Convention and Exhibition Centre (SICEC), in Singapore, included the design of the Auditorium and Ballroom, twenty-six function rooms and pre-function areas, organisers’ offices and the Terrace Café, all of which are finished in a very colourful palette of materials.

A deep, tartan grid ceiling was created for the Ballroom ceiling to satisfy all of the minimum and maximum distance requirements for air conditioning, fire services, public address, hoisting, and both general and stage lighting, and to simultaneously provide a ‘boldly modeled’ multi-level profile that allows sound to be projected throughout the space without distortion or echo.

The nearby Terrace Café is housed in an exciting, double-height volume, and the design takes full advantage of this feature. The walls are decorated with a variety of interesting bas reliefs created by a prominent local artist and dining areas are defined with unusual floor finishes and soaring partitions, punctuated with organic openings that allow the spaces to flow together.
